Double Majors and Minors

Although the Mathematics major is a four-year commitment, some students choose to combine their Mathematics major with a minor or with a major from another discipline (a double major). Some popular and practical combinations are Mathematics & Computer Science, Mathematics & Physics, Mathematics & Psychology, Mathematics & Economics, and Mathematics & Environmental Studies.

Double Major

To complete a double major, you must fulfill all of the requirements for two fields of study. These fields can be related, such as Mathematics & Physics, or unrelated, such as Mathematics & Theater Arts; however, no one course can be used to satisfy a requirement in both majors (unless it is absolutely required for both majors). You must complete two separate senior comprehensive requirements (such as Senior Seminar, Senior Project, or GRE score).

Minor

The requirements for the minor in Mathematics are seven Mathematics courses from those numbered 21, 23B, 24, 30, and 100 or higher. Math 100 is required. Math 22 and 23A do not satisfy minor requirements. You may not use any of these courses for your major requirements.
