CSET Subject Matter Waiver Program

Subject Matter Program- Mathematics CSET Waiver

The Subject Matter Program (SMP) is for students who are interested in becoming Math teachers at the Junior High or High School level. Students have the opportunity to receive a waiver for the CSET (one of the tests needed to become a credentialed teacher in the state of California). By completing the entire Mathematics Education Curriculum and three additional courses a student can receive the official CSET waiver.

Students who are not yet finished with the SMP courses but have three or fewer courses remaining may request an 80% complete certification. Often the 80% completion certification is used by students who are in the process of applying to Master's of Education and/or Credential programs in their final year at UCSC.

To request either an 80% or full 100% completion certification please fill out the google form in the link below.
